You might want to know about this...
Things worth knowing about before anyone else, including: a book to transform your home, the perfect autumn jumper and exquisite smellies
Happy Thursday all,
Still trying something new and short-ish here. Would love any feedback. Is it too much? Is short good? Do you like something in your inbox on a Thursday afternoon? Tell me all….I’m prepped for it.
Anyway, it’s September which means it’s belting it down here in England. I’m talking proper biblical rain. I wore a jumper for the first time in months when walking the dogs this morning. It made me a bit wistful for the summer just gone. Except then I remembered all the reasons I love autumn- new season fashion, the best exhibitions, TV shows that will make you want to hibernate in baggy pants with a hot water bottle tucked between your legs. (What? Just me? Surely not). Anyhow, I digress. The point is I wanted to share with you the things I have ear-marked this week. They are all things I genuinely love and will buy and I have a feeling you might enjoy them too. (IN other words, no affiliate links and no ads.)
And if fashion is your thing, this weekend I’m doing a BIG autumn round-up for paid subscribers. I hope you love it.

The Perfect Trousers
I have been looking for the perfect pair of trousers for, oooh, about fifteen years. They have as yet eluded me, which is why I always wear black jeans instead. But this month that all changes. That’s because WNU (which stands for With Nothing Underneath) is launching The Rampling trouser. WNU has been known in fashion circles for some time, famous for creating perfect slightly oversized shirts that make you look like Kim Basinger in 9 and Half Weeks. (No idea how to do the half sign on my keyboard-sorry!) This trouser shape is genuine perfection- high on the waist but a little loose on the hips; thigh-skimming, leg-lengthening and light as a breeze- even in wool. I will be ordering these in navy pronto. Sure to be a sell out so get yourself on the notification list.
The interiors book of the year
I have been asked where I get my interiors inspiration from, and the truth is it’s taken years to figure out my taste. That said, I have a bunch of different sources that I return to time and again. (Oh and before I forget, Eleanor Cording Booth has a lovely Substack that is very helpful too- totally worth the monthly membership price, in my opinion). Anyhow, one of the designers who has inspired me more than any other is Ben Penreath. He can somehow put a room together and make it feel like it was always that way- a bit worn, very warm, brimming with love and character as all good homes should be. I have all his other books and they have been instrumental in shaping my own home. His third book is called An English Vision and is out Sept 24th. I love pre-ordering books. That’s because it not only helps the author greatly (the more pre-orders they get, the more likely they are to get into the bestseller lists) but there’s also something lovely about ordering a book, forgetting you did and then it arrives like a shiny new Christmas present through the front door. Anyway if you love interiors just order this book. You will thank me.
