What to wear to work NOW
The world of work- and the wardrobe you wear has changed. Here's how to keep up...
A little while ago I did a ‘holiday wardrobe’ special, and since then, so many of you have emailed to say you’d like me to do the same for workwear. So here we are. Of course for most of us, the rules of workwear dressing have changed. Spindly heels for the boardroom feel a bit old fashioned in 2023; Zoom ‘tops’ are now a thing, whilst I know few people who are required to wear an actual suit to work. Though if you are, don’t worry, I have some answers…
To my mind the best way to dress for work is to find a ‘look’ that works for you. Sure you can experiment with your style in the office, but a cool, elegant wardrobe made up of just a few core pieces that take very little time to think about is usually best. Clothes should support you in the workplace, not the other way round.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but it does include the clothes I buy and wear myself, plus all the tricks that I have picked up working in fashion magazines for close to fifteen years.
Some of these brands are expensive, some less so. I’m not saying you need to buy any of this stuff either (I don’t use affiliate links so there’s zero reason why I recommend these brands other than they are what I by and wear). This list is simply meant to inspire.
By the way, I’m also happy to answer any style-related questions in the comments section this week. Or, if you want to just chat to others in the community about workwear dressing, be my guest.
This week’s post is for paid subscribers only, but next week’s is a free one again. Just a reminder that if you want this Substack delivered into your inbox every week then you can become a paid subscriber for as little as £1.75 a week. Okay, hard sell over. Let’s talk workwear…
