Things I'm ordering early..
Summer is coming. Here's what to nab before it's all gone, including a perfect wedding guest dress, a hot hotel and a swimsuit that never dates...
Ah, summer…you wait all year for it to come around and at the first drop of sunshine you start thinking about all the hot weather adjacent accoutrements one might need, only to find they’ve all sold out. So consider this your early warning siren. (Links all in green fyi!)
Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 50: Soon to be a thing of myth and legend I fear since every reputable beauty influencer now swears by this stuff. It’s Glossier’s brand new sunscreen and one of the few sunscreens that is completely clear and doesn’t make your face feel like Blue-Tac. I have just ordered two bottles for summer. I sugget you do the same.
A brilliant ‘all-rounder’ swimsuit: Buying a swimsuit in May is not exciting I know. But buying one in July or August is sheer madness. Because nowhere and no one will have anything left in black or anything in your size. (Smart cookies actually buy their bikinis and swimmers in March or April just as they hit stores and just before brands start with their annual Instagram harassment campaigns.) But you and I can still get something very good if we start shopping now. I love Hunza G. One size fits all. You can lounge in them. You can swim in them. They double up as a perfectly good top with a shirt throw over and some shorts. They last forever. They have also just released an exclusive new style on their website called Tiffany Swim that some of you will love (bit too edgy for me) but also you can’t go wrong with their classic Square Neck and another style called Polly. I have had my Polly for years. It looks very expensive, I always get asked where it’s from and it’s very kind to my cleavage. So job done…
Violette Bisou Balm: I admit it, the algorithm got me. This balm has been stalking me around the internet for months. And every time I go to order it, it sells out! Very rude if you ask me. Anyway, I have finally got my hands on it and it’s going to be my ‘summer lipstick’. It’s very matt with a lovely soft pinky hue. You know when you’ve been out in the freezing cold and your lips go a funny sort of lollipop pink- well, it’s that colour. Very nice indeed.
The ‘IT’ necklace
The founder of Milne Watson jewellery is Emma Milne Watson, a former fashion editor at ELLE (not in my time, sadly) who is as stylish and sunny as the necklaces she hand makes. These are the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe and look fabulous piled up around your neck. Emma also makes bespoke ones but she needs time to make these so you know, order now…Also I just found out this week she drops her brand new collection- so be quick.
