The most magical places to eat in Paris
If you're a tourist and want romance, romance, romance...(and maybe frites)

This week one of my best friends asked me for Paris recommendations. Namely a good bistro that feels authentically French, has good lighting and makes you feel like you’ve just stepped into a Nancy Meyers film. I know plenty of these places. Mainly because I have been visiting Paris for over 25 years now- at least two or three times a year. I even lived there back at the turn of the century (God, how ancient does that make me sound?!) and the wonderful thing about Paris is that many of the bistros I loved then are still around now, virtually unchanged.
Also a bunch of you have told me that you’ve taken up that crazy Eurostar offer which was selling tickets to Paris for about a tenner. I am pretty sure they are currently doing day trips from London-entirely manageable by the way, for £29. But be quick.
So here, in no particular order are the good places to eat. Or at least the places I think are good to eat, especially if you’re after that slightly surly gallic vibe with steamy windows and age-spotted mirrors on the wall. Of course some of these places are not what true Parisians would recommend (although many are recommendations of French friends who live in Paris) but when you’re a visitor to a country sometimes you want the cliche right? And these are that and serve good food to boot. Which frankly is what I’m after 90 per cent of the time.
As ever join me in the chat to discuss more Paris recommendations.
Oh, and before I forget (because I’m hopeless at marketing) next week I’m doing my first non-fiction writing course for founding members. It will be an intimate chance for you to ask me questions about the writing process and we’ll also cover much of what makes good, effective non-fiction writing. All the details can be found here: Non Fiction writing course (scroll to the bottom) and if you become a founding member before Saturday you will be sent a Zoom link to join. (Those founding members who cannot join can watch it as an on-demand video)
So here you go…my complete cris de coeurs!
