The Dispatch
Crisp shirts for hot days; the new drink to serve, chic parasols and talks to pop in your diary

There’s a slightly ‘peak’ summer theme to today’s Dispatch because well, it’s STILL insanely hot. In fact it’s so hot-don’t laugh, I’m actually writing this with a bag of frozen peas between my thighs.
There’s also predictably a hose-pipe ban in Kent from today so I must sit in the orangery and watch all my new plants swoon in front of me like Victorian ladies. (If anyone has any answers please send them quickly- it is a fairly large garden and the watering can can only do so much.)
Anyway, today I have some very good ideas about what to drink in the garden, an incredible shirt discovery that I’m actually quite annoyed no one told me about sooner, as well as talks to book for the autumn. I know that sounds wildly off-brand for today but bagging tickets to see good people talk is the sort of thing one has to do early. It’s a bit like buying your winter fashion in August. If you want the boots everyone will be wearing in November, you have to get them at the end of summer. I know…
Happy Friday!
