How to solve a problem like summer shoes

There are three types of shoes in life. Shoes that are beautiful; shoes that are dependable and shoes that are…summer shoes.

Like swimsuits and sun hats, the fleeting appearance of summer shoes requires they are both beautiful and dependable. That means they should be able to take you to garden party drinks whilst also allowing for peak comfort-  heat and feet not being the friendliest of bedfellows.

I have 5 pairs of summer shoes. The same five pairs I have had for the last half decade. I have two pairs of Dad sandals; one pair of gold Greek sandals;  some trekking sandals that are as soft and malleable as chewing gum and the most beautiful pair of fisherman-inspired caged sandals, which okay, I bought last year. I am currently in the market for a good pair of clogs, but that’s a whole other story.

Some of my summer staples that I've had for YEARS. Celine Greek-inspired sandals; Dad sandals by Chanel (I DID save up for years); Suicoke trek sandals; Gabriela Hearst fisherman-inspired flats

Given we require summer footwear to be practical, ubiquitous, fashion forward and timeless this week I’ve combed the internet to find you the only summer shoes that really count. These are the shoes you can live in from June through to September, and pull out year after year. These are shoes to spend the best summer of your life in.
