How I made a 'beautiful' home
I've never shared my home with anyone before, but here's exactly how I made it

Yesterday I wrote about what actually makes a beautiful home after three decades trying (and failing) to create one. That is not to say my home is beautiful by the way, though I was lucky enough to be asked to have it photographed for a magazine once, which I think would make it -theoretically at least, a pretty home. (I declined because I get bashful about things like that). But I do think it’s homely. People like to stay a while. It has good energy. The light is pretty. There are hedgerows and lots of bird feeders hanging in the trees like lanterns, so in the morning when I tip-toe down with my cup of coffee it’s like walking into an aviary. And the best bit: I haven’t spent an absolute fortune making it. I try to live within my means and not chase the types of interiors I see in magazines. Instead I’ve figured out how I like to live my life at home and then spent a lot of time figuring out ways to make that as chic as possible. So in today’s bonus post I wanted to share with you some of the very best things I’ve learned, the secret sources I go to for the best fabrics, rugs and lampshades and the little touches that make my home beautiful - to me at least. Enjoy!
