A Hot New York Minute
A sprint across the Big Apple..and some films to keep your company
I have fallen back in love with New York. Maybe it’s a spring thing. All those smoking sidewalks and soaring towers and locals who stride about in Lululemon and crop tops looking as though they’re about to murder someone.
I was there for work this week. Days really. A real in and out job. Just enough time to see a single friend, spend time with colleagues, work (a lot) and then zip back on the red eye.
But I thought I’d share a few new (and new-ish) places that I enjoyed this time around, as well as the five films that always get me in a New York state of mind. (Anyone else out there obsess about reading books and watching films set in the destination to which they’re travelling?)
Anyway, I’ll keep it short and sweet. Enjoy! Oh and before I forget, for those who have not yet joined our CHAT channel it’s absolutely worth heading over there as it’s basically now become Tripadvisor for this Substack. So many good chats and honest recommendations happening over there.
NEW YORK IN A HOT MINUTE…
I had to queue with about 25O Gen Z-ers talking about their eyelash extensions and brunch plans for thirty minutes in order to get an ice cream from this place, but it was absolutely worth it. They have a ‘soft serve’ of the week (check out their Instagram to see what it is- it was milk chocolate and peanut sauce when I stopped by) which is allegedly the thing but honestly, everything is incredible. You choose a base, a sauce and a sprinkle (Oreo crumbs, sea salt, sprinkles) and then add a ribbon of whipped cream on the top. Perfection.
